Writing was a bit on the juvenile side, and although the story might have some promise, it suddenly ended as to be continued in Book 2. This book probably took me 45 minutes to an hour to read - and should have been billed as a novella prequel. Mostly the protagonist was constantly waking up screaming from a dream of things to come, and then scenes were repeated nearly verbatim when the event happened in real time. Big yawn. I am so disappointed, especially since the price was $2.99. It should have been a freebie. I feel ripped off by the shortness of a story whose page numbers were misleading due to lots of paragraph spacing, repetitive story telling, the abrupt ending, and the cost. I fear this is a trap for readers to keep buying little dribs and drabs of the story to come. Really, don't waste your money on this one, as the little bit of story you get isn't even close to fully developed and not worth the price tag.Tags : A Shade of Halloween: A Vampire Mystery Thriller - Kindle edition by Robin Todd. A Shade of Halloween A Vampire Mystery Thriller edition by Robin Todd Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
I'm not really sure if I liked this book. It was very suspenseful. You never knew what to expect, with all the twists and turns. It did keep my attention and fed my curiosity. It was a bit creepy for me. I'm not sure if I will get the second book. I'll let you decide for yourself.
Loved it from started to finish! Vers well written and kept me with the suspens! Reading book 2 and it is equallly addictive.
This book is OK. Just OK. It left me feeling like I just heard a cheesy campfire story. Not in a hurry to buy book 2.
***I received this E-book from the author herself to read and give my thoughts. So here they are without leaving any spoilers, I hate that as much as the next reader!***
I found this read very interesting to say the least! Robin definitely keeps you guessing on what exactly is going on with Selena, and where the story will go from beginning to end.
I definitely can wait to read the other books to find out exactly what happens to Selena Ryder! I recommend this if you like fun thriller type short stories!
Book Review for A Shade of Halloween
Author Robin Todd
Star Rating 2.7
First thoughts about the story
I thought the book was an ok read but it needs improvement. You can finish reading it in one day. It is a short, modern vampire story and has a cliff hanger at the end. This would be a story for college students and young adults to read. I rate it a 2.7 because there is potential for improvement.
Likes It makes you want to know what will happen next, sort of. It was a light read.
Dislikes Grammar errors; Missing information that would have made certain scenes make sense; A lot of skipping around which can be confusing; Repetitive scenes
Suggestions for Improvement Line editing required; Better explanation of situations while still retaining the mystery aspect;

This book was a short vampire story in a continuation series. Soap opera style cliff hanger at the end of this book so you’ll have to get the next book to continue the story. The main character, Selena, is thrown into a confusing situation where her best friend gets killed and she thinks vampires are out to get her. At first I thought Selena was narcissist and she inserts herself into situations as if she is the only one capable of solving the problem. Every time she falls asleep she dreams of certain events involving a mysterious stranger or premonitions of events to come. This makes her completely mental. I don’t want to spoil too much so I’ll leave it at that.
This was not what I expected . I found that I didn't want to put it down and I kept trying to figure out what was going on! I have to go get the next book so I can find out!
Dull read. Why is this a series?
