Fragile Line Entangled Teen eBook Brooklyn Skye
Mind. Blown.I must first say BRAVO(x1000) to Brooklyn Skye for a job well--WELL--done. FRAGILE LINE is unlike any book I've read before, and exactly what I want to read more of. In the vein of some of my favorite series/movies (which ones, I can't say because I'm not a spoilery reviewer), FRAGILE LINE hooked me instantly, grabbing a hold of me in the very first pages and keeping me on the edge of my seat throughout. In truth, FRAGILE LINE made me feel, well, fragile. I gasped. I cried. I stared at the wall as confusion rattled my brain. I shook my head. I raged. I questioned. I sympathized. Name the emotion, and Brooklyn Skye pulled it from me.
Little more than 30% in, and I figured out the plot base (not a bad thing in this case, BTW). I wondered if I was right, if I'd actually uncovered the truth of Ellie's situation, and though it turned out I was in fact correct in my assumption, knowing this took nothing away from the book. When the truth is revealed, Skye doesn't allow you the comfort that should come from finally knowing; she pushes you straight into the next twist, bending the story and flipping everything on its head. EVERYTHING. ON. ITS. HEAD. Discovering what's wrong with Ellie should have brought her some peace, brought the reader some peace, but it did not. And for that I am so thankful. I hate when a book looses steam with a big reveal, or comes to a cushy little comfortable end after a thrilling climax.
In line with not trying to be spoilery (which is quite difficult with all I want to say about this book), I'll lave you with this: FRAGILE LINE consumed me all the way through to the end. Gripping. Heartbreaking. Thrilling.
My only complaint is that there isn't a Book Two. I need more Griffin. *swoon*
Rating: NC17 (Why is there no PG-16 rating? lol) This is an intense upper young adult novel with some very grown up themes. I'd say 17+

Fragile Line Entangled Teen eBook Brooklyn Skye Reviews
If you want to read a book that keeps you slowly stringing along wondering what could possibly be going on, this book is for you! There is a huge shocker a little over halfway through that will change everything. I have not read a book about mental health as great as this!! The one hard spot I had with the book was when one half of the main character was using. I personally know people with drug addictions, especially heroin. However, I did not know the details I learned in this book, which I also did not want to know. So it was a little too enlightening for me in that sense. Overall, this book was amazing! I highly recommend it if you enjoy books that hit you in the face with the climax!
I really really loved this book, I had a really hard time putting it down. The writing was very very good. I will definitely be following Brooklyn Skye to see what else she writes. The characters were real, well developed, and relatable. The author did a great job of "showing, not telling", I could see the kind of relationship the main characters have by the way they act towards each other.
I don't know if it's the way the blurb is written or maybe the type of books I've been reading latey, but I was expecting maybe some fantasy elements and so I had to check the reviews in the middle of the book to see the direction the book was going. Once I got that straight in my mind (it's not) I was able to completely enjoy the book. It really makes you think and try to understand what other people might be going through and not to judge based on what you assume is going on.
When I picked up this book I didn't know what to expect other than a good mystery. In fact I was expecting it to have some sort of fantasy or paranormal element to it. I was intrigued to find that it was purely Contemporary fiction. The first two sections of this book earned five stars from me. They were compelling, and I couldn't get the story out of my head. I didn't like Gwen's section at the end at all. She was too dark. I understand that it was necessary and I feel that the author did a good job making Gwen rough and callused, but I wished she hadn't made it quite so detailed. I felt like her section went on and on. There was way too much swearing, drugs, and sex for my taste. I didn't really see the purpose to it. I would have liked to see more of Ellie and her road to healing, and I only saw a small glimpse of that at the end. Gwen's entire section seemed like a waste of time and it left a bad taste in my mouth, so bad that I almost put the book down several times. It was like the book ended with the end of Ellie's section, right when it was coming to the most interesting part. I eagerly turn to the next chapter and it's back to Gwen who I hate and her section is like a downward spiral, ruining this girl's body. What the heck was the point of that? How was that propelling the story forward? When it finally got back to Ellie there was barely any mention of her healing process and the story was left hanging a bit with lose ends dangling everywhere and it left me wondering if there's a sequel coming.
Mind. Blown.
